Live In Care - Care Work

Independent Introduction Agency for live-in care anywhere in the UK - office in London  -  established in 1997.  Most of our clients are the elderly with varying individual circumstances.

Trinity Homecare has developed an extensive understanding of the support needed by clients who have memory problems.  We feel enthusiastic about the way person centred care can be achieved in a natural way at home and value the experience we have gained over the years with our clients and their families.

The most suitable match between each care assistant and each client is very important to us, as we understand that it is a very personal experience for both client and carer.

Up-to-date information, guidance and support can be given by Trinity Homecare.  Most of our carers come from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and their reputation for being hard working, cheerful and amenable is well deserved.  But we welcome care assistants from all other countries, including the U.K.  A significant proportion of our carers are healthcare professionals, though all are selected for their individual qualities, as well as their skills.  Many of our clients and carers have been referred to us by their friends.  We take this as a huge compliment, not only to the Agency but to the people who are our clients and who work through us.

CURRENT ISSUES

The Equality & Human Rights Commission's report in November 2011 was highly critical of some agencies commissioned by social services to provide daily care.  What hasn't been reported is that these agencies are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).  As such the agencies are obliged to give induction training and have procedures for complaints and monitoring customer satisfaction.  Inspections include customer and carer surveys and if these have failed to identify non-performing agencies, then the CQC hasn't been doing its job properly.

In our view there are three main problems.  Lack of sufficient funding results in pay so low that the best carers are not being recruited.  It also means not being able to afford back-up carers to cover the inevitable no-shows.  And the triangular relationship between social services, the agency and the client results in there being no direct accountability between the provider and the client.  As a recruiter of live-in carers, Trinity Homecare overcomes these problems. Our carers are relatively well paid and so we can afford to be very selective and only choose people we would be happy to look after our own grandparents.  Live-in carers by definition can not be "no-shows" as they are living with the client.  We work directly for our clients, and if they are not happy can go somewhere else, so client satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
